Why You Can’t Judge a PMU Brow Technique by Someone Else’s Healed Results

One of the best pieces of advice you’ll hear before getting permanent makeup is to ask to see healed results instead of only fresh results.

I completely agree with that advice.

However, there’s one important detail that often gets overlooked.

Many people browse Reddit, Facebook groups, Instagram, or other online forums looking at healed results from different artists. They find a pair of healed brows they absolutely love, notice the technique that was used, and then assume they can simply book another artist who offers that same technique and expect similar results.

Unfortunately, it doesn’t work that way.

The Technique Doesn’t Create the Results—The Artist Does

This is one of the biggest misconceptions in permanent makeup.

Whether it’s powder brows, nano brows, microblading, or another technique, two artists can perform the exact same service and produce completely different healed results.

The reason is simple:

Every permanent makeup technique still depends on the artist’s ability to control depth, pressure, pigment placement, saturation, color selection, symmetry, and countless other details that influence how the brows heal.

The technique is simply a method.

The healed result is a reflection of how well that method was performed.

Why This Matters

Imagine you see a beautiful healed powder brow result online.

If you love those brows, it makes sense to consider powder brows as an option.

What doesn’t make sense is assuming you’ll automatically get similar healed results from any artist who also offers powder brows.

The same is true for nano brows, microblading, or any other PMU technique.

The healed result you eventually wear isn’t determined by the name of the technique alone.

It’s determined by the skill of the person performing it.

Compare Artists—Not Just Techniques

Looking at healed results is absolutely the right thing to do.

Just make sure you’re looking at the healed results of the artist you’re actually considering booking with to increase your chances of getting said results.

This is where many people accidentally make the wrong decision.

They compare healed results from Artist A…

…but book Artist B because both artists offer the same technique therefore the expectancy of the healed results should be about the same.

Wrong.

Those are two completely different things.

Consistency Matters More Than One Beautiful Photo

Any artist can have a few great healed examples posted on their pages.

What’s far more important is seeing whether an artist can consistently produce beautiful healed work across many different clients, skin types, and over time.

A consistent healed portfolio filled with more than just a few great healed photos demonstrates that the artist understands not only how to create beautiful brows on appointment day, but also how to make them heal beautifully.

My Best Advice

If you’re considering permanent makeup, absolutely compare healed results before making your decision.

But make sure you’re evaluating the healed results of the artist who will actually be performing your procedure—not healed results posted by someone else using the same technique.

If an artist doesn’t have a strong healed portfolio to show, keep looking until you find one who does.

In permanent makeup, your healed brows are what you’ll be living with every day—not the fresh brows you see immediately after the appointment.

That’s why choosing an artist with consistently beautiful healed results is one of the most important decisions you can make.
