FAQS

What is the difference between Microblading, Nano Brows, Powder Brows, and Combo brows?

Microblading and Nano Brows

Microblading and nano brows are both designed to mimic the appearance of natural eyebrow hairs through individual hairstrokes. The primary difference lies in how those strokes are created.

  • Microblading uses a blade to cut the skin. This technique is more invasive and creates more scarring which yields to less retention and more frequent touch ups.

  • Nano Brows use a tattoo machine and needle to implant the pigment. The strokes are tattooed in a pixelated soft manner which creates less trauma and scarring on the skin. However its retention and healed results are not much better than microblading.

Although both techniques can produce beautiful results, they are not suitable for everyone. The ideal candidate has virgin, healthy, relatively dry skin with minimal pore size and an even flow of eyebrow hair. In addition, repeated hairstroke touch-ups can eventually cause the strokes to lose their crispness and begin appearing more solid and blurred. At that stage, many clients require laser removal or a transition into a powder brow.

Powder Brows

Powder brows (also known as ombré brows) are created with a tattoo machine and needle using soft layers of pixel shading rather than individual hairstrokes.

This is one of the most versatile PMU techniques and is suitable for the vast majority of clients, including many with oily skin, mature skin, previous brow work, or those requiring color correction.

Because powder brows rely on soft shading instead of distinct hairstrokes, they typically offer:

  • Excellent healed retention

  • Softer, more consistent long-term results

  • Less trauma to the skin

  • Easier maintenance over time

  • Greater flexibility for future touch-ups and color corrections

When performed correctly, powder brows can heal extremely soft and natural while maintaining crisp definition where desired. Unlike hairstroke procedures, powder brows can generally be refreshed throughout a client’s lifetime without the same concerns of becoming overly saturated.

Combo Brows

This procedure is a combination of Microblading (or nano brows) with machine shading. Typically, hairstrokes are placed throughout the front areas of the brow, while soft pixel shading adds density and depth through the body and tail. This creates a balanced result that maintains a natural appearance while providing more fullness than hairstrokes alone.

Combo brows are an excellent option for many clients who still qualify for hairstrokes but desire additional definition. However, because hairstrokes are still part of the procedure, the same long-term considerations apply. After multiple touch-ups, the hairstrokes can gradually lose definition and may eventually require laser removal or conversion to a powder brow.

On the day of your appointment, I will help you decide on which procedure to get, but ultimately, it will be your decision.

Where can I see your healed results portfolio and why is it important?

One of the best ways to evaluate a PMU artist is by looking at their healed results, not just their fresh work. A strong healed portfolio will give you a clearer picture of the quality and consistency you can expect after your brows have fully healed.

At Yely Beauty, I believe every client deserves to see how my work heals before making a decision. That’s why I proudly showcase a dedicated portfolio of healed results, giving you confidence that your investment is backed by proven, long-term outcomes—not just beautiful results on day one.

Who does not qualify to get permanent makeup?

Clients who are or have:

  • Under the age of 18

  • Pregnant or nursing

  • Those with allergies to makeup, colors or hair dye

Consult with your doctor if you have severe allergies or multiple allergies.

What if I have previous work done?

If you have previous work, please send me a picture of your brows for approval prior to booking.

What is the healing process like?

Days 1–5:

Your brows will appear darker and more defined

Days 5–14:

You may experience itching, light flaking, or scabbing.

Days 14-30

Your brows may appear lighter compared to how they looked immediately after your appointment.

After 2 Months

Your brows will be fully healed. This is when you'll be able to analyze your eyebrows and decide if you need a touch up. At a touch up appointment, I will be able to touch up any spots that didn’t take, adjust the pigment color and/or shape as necessary.

Many clients achieve their best healed results after the touch-up appointment.

Do I need to take days off work?

No, you do not. The brows will appear darker initially, but nothing too crazy. In fact, many of my clients love their brows the most during this phase. And while the scabbing/flaking period may sound or look scary specially if you've seen pictures or heard stories from other places, many of my clients report little to no scabbing at all.

Precare and Aftercare:

No Botox treatments, Juvederm or other fillers 2 weeks before the procedure.

No chemical peels, accutane or retin-A 30 days before or after procedure

You will need to avoid water for 7 -14 days after! This includes excessive sweating, pools, lakes, salt water, and extreme sun exposure so plan your vacations accordingly!

I will give you a link with full aftercare instructions on the day of the appointment.

How long will my eyebrows last and will I need a touch up?

Healed results can last 1-3 years. This does not mean the color will completely disappear after that time, it means it wont look as saturated anymore and may start to fade but never completely. If you need a touch up, you can schedule one any time after 2 months from your last procedure.

How long is the appointment?

For new clients: around 2 hours

For returning clients/touch ups: around 1.5 hours

If you have any additional questions, please don't hesitate to reach out. I look forward to helping you achieve beautiful brows you’ll love long after they’ve healed.
