FAQs

1. What qualifications, permits or licenses do I need to perform ombre powder brows and microblading?

Each state is different. But most states won't require an esthetician or cosmetology license. You would just need to be registered with your county as a body art practitioner.

How do I get registered in my county?

Each county will have their own requirements. But most will need you to complete a blood borne pathogens (BBP) training, which takes about two hours to complete. In LA county, this is the only certification that you will need. If you live in another county, it's important to contact your county's health department and ask them for their specific requirements.

2. How will I be able to find clients as a new microblading artist?

I will explain on your manual multiple ways to attract microblading clients using social media and other free advertising methods (the same methods I used when I was a new artist that got me fully booked right from the start). I will also show you on the online videos my specific ad strategy that I use to set up paid ads through Facebook and Instagram to run successful marketing campaigns.

3. Online videos

My training is 3 days in person, and you’ll receive your certificate on the third day.

After completing the in-person training, you’ll also receive lifetime access to my online training videos. You can watch them as many times as you’d like while practicing at home.

What’s included in the videos?

Everything taught during the 3-day class plus:

Saline removal

Live model demonstrations

PMU theory

Additional information, tips and techniques

Why I include online videos at the end of class?

I don’t believe that three days of in-person training alone is enough. It’s normal to forget certain techniques once class is over.

That’s why I created these videos—to give my students a resource they can return to whenever they need a refresher.

This also allows you to stay fully engaged during class instead of worrying about recording videos or taking detailed notes.

4. Lifetime mentorship

Forget about 30-day mentorships. My students get access to my personal phone number where you'll be able to text or call me directly to ask me anything. I will help you wherever you’re in your journey. Whether you have already worked on lots of clients or you haven’t worked on anyone at all.

5. Payment Plans

I offer payment plans through Cherry. To get started, you’ll first need to apply with Cherry to see how much you qualify for. Click here to apply.

Once you’re approved, send me a text message and I’ll send you a checkout link so you can complete your payment using Cherry.

6. What is the cancellation policy for this class?

All deposits and payments are non-refundable. Rescheduling is allowed but if you'd like to reschedule your class date, please do so with enough notice (at least 7 days before class to avoid losing your deposit).

WHY DO I NEED TO
LEARN DIFFERENT TECHNIQUES
FOR EYEBROW TATTOOING?

If your goal is to confidently treat a wide variety of clients and constantly deliver the best healed results, learning multiple brow techniques is essential. Here is why:

Microblading & Nano Brows:

Microblading and nano brows are both designed to mimic the appearance of natural eyebrow hairs through individual hairstrokes. The primary difference lies in how those strokes are created.

  • Microblading uses a  blade to cut and implant pigment into the skin. This is the easiest technique to master.

  • Nano Brows use a tattoo machine to create the hairstrokes with a needle. This technique generally requires a higher level of machine control and technical skill than microblading, making it one of the more advanced and difficult PMU techniques to master.

Although both techniques can produce beautiful results, they are not suitable for everyone. The ideal candidate has healthy, relatively dry skin with minimal pore size and an even flow of fine eyebrow hair.

In addition, hairstrokes procedures are best if done on virgin skin. Brows with previous work, scar tissue or brows that have gone through laser removal processes generally are not the best candidates for a hairstroke procedure. Nor can you do color corrections successfully with hairstrokes.

This is where powder brows come in:

Powder Brows:

Powder brows (also known as ombré brows) are created entirely with a tattoo machine using soft layers of pixel shading rather than individual hairstrokes.

This is one of the most versatile PMU techniques and is suitable for the vast majority of clients, including many with oily skin, mature skin, previous brow work, or those requiring color correction.

Because powder brows rely on soft shading instead of distinct hairstrokes, they typically offer:

  • Excellent healed retention

  • Softer, more consistent long-term results

  • Less trauma to the skin

  • Easier maintenance over time

  • Greater flexibility for future touch-ups and color corrections

Many clients initially prefer microblading or nano brows because hairstrokes may appear more natural at first glance. This is completely understandable—if I were a client unfamiliar with how each technique heals, I might think the same thing. That’s why it’s important to offer multiple techniques and educate clients on the pros, cons, and healed results of each option so they can make an informed decision about their brows.

Combo Brows:

This procedure is a combination of Microblading (or nano brows) with machine shading. Typically, hairstrokes are placed throughout the front areas of the brow, while soft pixel shading adds density and depth through the body and tail. This creates a balanced result that maintains a natural appearance while providing more fullness than hairstrokes alone.

Combo brows are an excellent option for many clients who still qualify for hairstrokes but desire additional definition. However, because hairstrokes are still part of the procedure, the same long-term considerations apply. After multiple touch-ups, the hairstrokes can gradually lose definition and may eventually require laser removal or conversion to a powder brow.

By mastering microblading, nano brows, combo brows, and powder brows, you’ll be able to:

  • Serve a much wider range of clients.

  • Recommend treatments based on what’s best for the client

  • Achieve more predictable healed results.

  • Build greater trust and credibility.

  • Maximize bookings while maintaining high client satisfaction.

Why Learn With Yely Beauty?

Before investing in a permanent makeup academy, ask the trainer one simple question:

“Can I see your healed portfolio?”

That one question could completely change your decision.

Many artists can make a brow look beautiful when it's fresh. That’s why choosing the right trainer can feel overwhelming for many students. However, healed results are the strongest indicators of an artist's true skill level. A strong healed portfolio can give you better insight into an artist’s technical knowledge and consistency.

At Yely Beauty, I believe every student deserves to see how my work heals before making a decision. That’s why I proudly showcase a dedicated portfolio of healed results, giving you confidence that your investment is backed by proven, long-term outcomes—not just by beautiful results on day one.

View my healed results portfolio by clicking here or visit my Instagram @yelybeauty, where you’ll find a story highlight dedicated exclusively to healed results.
